The brief
For this production, HD Sound & Lighting was responsible for providing the technical support needed to help bring the show to life on stage.
This included the design, preparation and operation of both lighting and sound, as well as general theatre technician duties throughout rehearsals and performances.

The production featured a particularly busy cue list, with a large number of sound and lighting cues throughout the show. As rehearsals progressed, there were also plenty of edits, timing changes and adjustments to make sure everything worked smoothly with the action on stage.
Training & Experience
This was also Chloe’s first production working on the technical side of a theatre show.
Alongside preparing and operating the production, I spent time introducing Chloe to the theatre’s technical systems and explaining how the equipment, lighting, sound and show-control processes work in a live environment.
Rather than simply observing, Chloe was able to gain practical experience by taking an active role in the production.
Running the Show
During the performances, Chloe and I shared responsibility for running the technical elements of the show.With so many cues and changes throughout the production, it provided an excellent opportunity for Chloe to learn on the job and gain real hands-on experience of operating a live theatre performance.
The Result
The production was a great example of the amount of technical work that takes place behind the scenes of a live show.From the initial lighting and sound design through to programming, rehearsals, last-minute changes and finally operating the performances, HD Sound & Lighting helped provide the technical support needed to keep the production running smoothly.It was also a particularly rewarding show from a training point of view, giving Chloe a strong first experience of technical theatre and the opportunity to build her confidence while working on a real production.
