The War Game (season 2)
A top team of former government ministers and military and security chiefs have taken part in a wargame that simulates a Russian attack on the UK for a new podcast series by Sky News and Tortoise Media.
I Recently saw this podcast advertised on sky news, and thought it sounded promising and I was not wrong. The War Game is set in the present day, the scenario is based on what the government would do, in the event of an attack on British soil. Hear behind the scenes, how the government would respond, it’s options, and the outcomes.
The “actors” are a mix of ex government officials and MPs, playing the roles of prime minister, chancellor of the exchequer, home secretary as well as military chefs.
This season explores the relationship between the U.S, NATO, The UK government, Russia federation and others. The War Game is played as the current government might do with its planning and training in the real world.
As well as the main war game content, their is also interviews with notable people with knowledge of the cold war and other conflicts. The main presenter of the show does a good job of explaining and provides a narrative.
I won’t give away any of the plot, as I don’t want to spoil the context. All I would say is I really enjoyed this podcast, it’s very informative and interesting.
