News from HD Sound & Lighting and the local area
We are three months in to 2026 already and it has rained for most of them. We have been busy behind the scenes on many projects in the area. A lot of work has gone in to ‘The 39 Steps‘ rehearsals started in September 2025. At the dress rehearsal on the 24th the theatre invited a few local businesses as well as residents of the local care home who enjoyed their night out.
The show opened on Friday the 27th of February, with a small audience, the first night of the run always seams to be smaller. It’s so safe to say the audience loved it, so much positive feedback.
‘The 39 Steps’ was such a great show to work on, with an amazing cast and crew who worked so hard. Special thanks to Chloe for helping me on the sound & Lighting. She did amazing working on a show with so many audio and lighting cues and even the snow machine! If you would like to be apart of the next show, consider joining, read more here. A Second Music Night
The theatre is planning another music night following the successful ‘Beat the Blues’ January event. The next music night has been booked, ‘A Jazzy Music Night’
The next event we have been helping out with is the St Pirans night hosted at St Mary’s Church, Callington. This was the second year of the church putting on something for St Pirans day. Which is something that was missing in Callington’s event calendar This night was another successful event. We provided support with lighting the event, It’s always a pleasure to help the people of St Mary’s Church who are a great bunch of people, who do so much for the community.
Business page
We have also been working on keeping our local business page updated, showcasing all the local businesses in the area. This page is growing so fast, I’ll have to change the format shortly to an easier to navigate layout as the original is getting so full. I completely underestimated how many people wanted to be added. Take a look at the current page.
Repair cafe news
We are still helping out with the repair cafe in Callington. Which is an interesting and useful project for the people of Callington. You never know what items will be making an appearance each month. The cafe is held on the second Saturday of the month from 2-5 at the mustard seed church. The next one being held will be the 11th of April, For more details see here
