The 39 Steps, Preformed by TADA!

Our work on this show:

For this production, HD Sound & Lighting provided a range of technical theatre services, including lighting design and programming, sound design, cue preparation and general theatre technician support.

The show featured a busy technical programme, with a large number of both lighting and sound cues throughout the performance. As with any live production, there were plenty of changes and adjustments during rehearsals, requiring cues, timings and effects to be continually refined as the show developed.

This production was also Chloe’s first experience working on the technical side of a theatre show. Alongside preparing the production, I was able to introduce her to the theatre’s technical systems, equipment and the practical process of running a live performance.During the performances, Chloe and I shared responsibility for operating the technical elements of the show, giving her valuable hands-on experience with both sound and lighting in a real production environment. With its large number of cues, regular changes and varied technical requirements, it proved to be an excellent first show for Chloe to learn on the job while also becoming more confident with the equipment and procedures involved in running live theatre.

For HD Sound & Lighting, the production was a great example of the work that goes on behind the scenes to bring a performance together — from the initial design and programming through rehearsals, technical adjustments and finally operating the completed show in front of an audience.

The 39 Steps’ was such a great show to work on, with an amazing cast and crew who worked so hard. Special thanks to Chloe for helping me on the sound & Lighting. She did amazing working on a show with so many audio and lighting cues and even the snow machine! If you would like to be apart of the next show, consider joining, read more here. All the shows take an incredible amount of work and the more hands the easier it is for everyone.
